The Big Bang
It is the most common theory for explaining the start of the universe.
the big bang theory
A very simple explanation is that the big bang was not an explosion but it was the appearance of space everywhere at once. The universe was at one time a very hot very dense single point in space no one is sure what happened before this point. Scientists have studied cosmic microwave background which has left over radiation and after glow light from the big bang. One of the first things that happened to make the universe what it is today was very early pretty much less than a second This is called the Inflation it grew and doubled at least 90 times with its expansion it got a lot cooler and less dense. after this the universe grew at a much slower rate. Light chemical elements were created within the first 3 minutes of the universes life. As it cooled protons and neutrons collided creating more elements. 380,000 years after the big bang happened matter cooled enough for electrons and nuclei to combine to form neutral atoms this phase in the universes life was called the recombination. The light unleashed at this time can still be found with cosmic microwave background. This phase was total darkness because stars and other objects haven't formed yet. Now at 400 million years after the big bang the dark age ended with stars forming this was called re-ionization. clumps of gas collapsed enough to form the first stars.
